SMOKING – RISKY FACTOR FOR YOUR HEALTH

The negative consequences of smoking for the social and personal health are numerous. This is the biggest, external and avoidable reason, causing heart and pulmonary diseases and cancer and many more.

All forms of usage of tobacco products have contribution to illness and untimely death from over 25 different diseases. There are no safe cigarettes. They contain more than 4 000 harmful chemicals. Among the bad for the health are nicotine, tar, carbon oxide, ammonia, phenol, etc.

Health consequences

Almost half of the deaths, connected with smoking are caused by heart diseases. About 30-40% from the heart attacks are also a result of tobacco products. And again 30% of all cancer types are caused by smoking. The relation between the cigarettes and the lung cancer is very strong. It is determined that the risk in regular smokers is ten times higher in comparison with no smokers. Explicit dependence is settled and between smoking and other cancer localizations – mouth cavity, throttle, stomach gland, bladder and womb.

Smoking during the pregnancy is related to increased risk of abortion, low weight of the baby in childbirth, untimely death of the foetus, undeveloped physical and mental abilities of the baby.

Cigarettes affect also life expectancy and its quality – a woman at 35, who smokes, is supposed to live 5 years less than the no smoking one at the same age. The same is the case for men – 7 years less for smokers.

Interaction with other risky factors for the health

As we know, smoking, involved with other risky factors like high blood pressure, high levels of holesterol, low physical activity, alcohol abuse and others, increase repeatedly the risk of heart diseases. Women that smoke and take contraceptives, the possibility to develop celebral attack is 20 times higher in comparison with no smoker women.

Passive smoking

Inhaling the cigarette smoke by the no smokers, living and working in a smoky area also causes bad consequences for the health and life. The risk of lung cancer is increased with 30%, from heart diseases – up to 25%. The frequency of respiratory infections (bronchitis and pneumonia), inflammation of the ears, nose and throat is again higher. Children of smoking parents are suffering from asthma more often than their coevals.

Many scientific evidences confirm that the risks for the health could be decreased by smoke cessation. For a period of 5 years, the risk of lung cancer diminishes to the level of no smoker. For 1-2 years, the danger from heart diseases is also decreased at about 50%

The advertisements of the tobacco companies present the smoking as a charming and elegant action and behavior of active and beautiful people who “made a success of their life”. But this is an illusion. Striking adds doesn’t show the scary face of the cigarettes’ consequences. – the sufferings of the people, the wordly tragedy and death. Although in some cases it doesn’t happen with all the smokers that have had “luck”, it will caused you with sure early wrinkles on your face, easy panting and tiring, yellow nails and teeth, bad breath and unpleasant smell of the hair and clothes.

That’s why it is never too late to quit cigarettes.
